Blending traditional elements with modern design to attract tourism and deepen appreciation.
Amr Ibrahim Mousa, founder of Freekick Studio and a multidisciplinary designer known for blending culture with innovation, has been awarded 1st Place in the prestigious UNESCO Branding Competition for the World Heritage Site of Bahla, located in the Sultanate of Oman.
The competition called on designers to create a powerful new visual identity for Bahla, one of the most historically rich and architecturally significant oases in the Arabian Peninsula. Amr’s winning proposal stood out for its ability to honor Bahla’s deep cultural heritage while presenting a bold, contemporary design that invites global audiences to rediscover the site’s legacy.
“This project was a journey through time,” says Amr. “It was about merging the soul of Bahla—its fort, its legends, its craft—with a forward-looking identity that can speak to both locals and the world.”
The project was officially launched today, June 16, 2025, at the Oman Across Ages Museum in Muscat, Oman, during a public ceremony hosted by UNESCO and local authorities, where Amr Mousa presented the full project and unveiled the new identity to the public and officials.
Stay tuned — the full project will be published soon here, showcasing how branding can celebrate and preserve cultural identity while opening new doors for tourism, education, and global engagement.
